Delores Marion Begotka

May 31, 1925 – May 17, 2026

Delores Marion Begotka, age 100, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, under the loving care of family. She has been laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. Born on May 31, 1925, in Little River Township, WI, Delores was the fifth of ten children of Curt and Emma Zorn (née Goldschmidt).

On February 22, 1947, Delores was united in marriage with Robert “Bob” Charles Begotka, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Marinette, WI. Delores and Bob shared 70 years of marriage, during which she made a loving home for Bob and their four children.

Faith and family were paramount in Delores’s life. For the past eight years, she was a member of Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenfield, MN. Delores was previously a longtime member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Marinette, where she volunteered her time and talents to many church and school organizations, such as the Sunshine Club, where she regularly visited and assisted the elderly, sick, and housebound. Delores will be remembered as a devoted, selfless, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. On many occasions she graciously opened her home to extended family members in need of a place to stay and her care. Delores was a generous and hardworking woman who thought of others first and was always ready to give a helping hand or kind word to those around her.

Those who knew and loved Delores will miss her chocolate chip cookies, her lovingly prepared holiday meals, and the jams she made with her homegrown berries. She will also be remembered for her love of playing cards, as well as badminton, volleyball, tennis, croquet, and her daily walks. Throughout her life, Delores was a regular and enthusiastic spectator at sporting and other events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Delores’s memory will be cherished by her children:  Linda (James) Anderson of St. Michael, MN; Randy (Catherine Sweeney) Begotka of Scottsdale, AZ; Ricky (Patricia) Begotka of Mount Pleasant, WI; Robert (Ignacia Moreno) Begotka of McLean, VA; grandchildren:  Randy (Tammie) Begotka, Lauri (Frank) Goetz, Matthew (Emily) Anderson, Brandon (Tammie) Begotka, Angela (Ryan) Randall, Lindsay (Delwyn) Todd, Tristan Begotka, Nicolas Begotka; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Della (Harold) McKenney; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob (2017); and siblings Viola (Frank) Lewitsky, Leonard (Joyce) Zorn, Hattie (Tom) Mayo, Hilda (Alfred) Schroeder, Laverne (Edith) Zorn, Paul (Eloise) Zorn, Mabel (Ed) Soults, and Donald (Diane) Zorn.
