Racine – Dennis Phillip Jardina, Sr.; age 74; passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 due to complications of a heart attack.
Dennis was born in Racine on February 24, 1940 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (nee: Collova) Jardina. After attending William Horlick High School, he went on to be employed at various local companies. However, he was most prosperous as a self-taught investor.
Denny was a proud and dedicated member of St. Rita Catholic Church – where he served as a longtime usher. Among his interests, he enjoyed working out at several gyms through “Silver Sneakers”; playing Bingo; frequenting the horse race track; watching Green Bay Packer games; and had a great appreciation for all animals. Above all, Denny was passionate about his entire family and was happiest when surrounded by all his loved ones.
Surviving are his son, Dennis P. (Candi Koenig) Jardina, Jr.; grandchildren, Phillip (Christina Moratto) Jardina, Patricia Jardina and Anthony Jardina; great-grandson (and apple of Denny’s eye), Mason Jardina (age 5); brothers, Jerry (Linda) Jardina and Joseph (Judy) Jardina; sister, Annette Galvin; step-children (from his marriage to Patti Beth – of whom also preceded him in death), Lynn Swanson, Rick Rodriguez and Mike Rodriguez; special friends, Mary Lou Vandenburg and Margaret Johnson; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Denny was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, on January 29, 2000 and by his mother, Elizabeth, on February 13, 2005.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Rita Catholic Church (4339 Douglas Avenue) with Rev. Richard Young officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 6-9 pm and in the church on Monday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church.
A heartfelt note of thanks to the Wheaton Franciscan Emergency Room and ICU for doing everything in their power in trying to save Denny’s life. May God bless all of you!!
