
Kenosha – Donald H. Bauer, 79, died at the Aurora Medical Center-Kenosha on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. He was born in Milwaukee on October 31, 1927, the son of the late Henry and Helen (nee: Thurow) Bauer. Mr. Bauer served his country with the U.S. Army. On September 10, 1954, in Emmaus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, he was united in marriage to the former Doris E. Geske. He was a linotype operator for many years and later was employed by Shoreland Lutheran High School. Mr. Bauer was a longtime member of Friendens Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was an usher at the early service. He was a founding member of the Shoreland Boosters Club, and sold basketball tickets for Shoreland for many years. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Doris; their children, David (Barbara) Bauer of Union, KY, Donna Hammond of Menomonee Falls; 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Ashley, Andre Hammond, and Joshua Bauer and fiancée Gina Pitcher and Rebecca Bauer and fiancé Jon Grove; his great grandchildren Ian and Sean; their mother StephanieWood-Hammond; and by his brother-in-law Roland Gurgel of Mankato, MN. His nieces, nephews other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents his sister Lois Gurgel preceded him in death. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20th, in Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5043 –20th Ave., Kenosha, with Rev. Thomas Meissner officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will take place on Monday in Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to either; Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shoreland Lutheran High School, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the Aurora Medical Center-Kenosha and it’s entire staff for the care and compassion given Mr. Bauer and his family.
