Gale L. Sorenson, age 80, of Racine, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.  Born in Racine on July 27, 1943, she was the daughter of Harvey A. and Ruth M. (nee: Deane) Sorenson.  Gale was a graduate of Washington Park High School.  On December 7, 1963, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Racine, she was united in marriage to Keith Sorenson.  Sadly, Keith proceeded her in death on October 25, 2023.  She was a long-time member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church serving on the alter committee and many years as the parish assistant.  Gale was employed by Racine Unified School District for several years before retiring in 2000.  She also found pleasure in volunteering for various organizations specifically as the popcorn lady at Lincoln Lutheran nursing home, home hospice, elementary school library helper, and a listener to 2nd grade readers.  In her younger years, Gale loved to ride motorcycles with Keith, work in the kitchen at vacation bible school, camp, bowl in the women’s & couples bowling league, and travel.  She enjoyed being up at the cottage, spending time with family, going for a ride on the pontoon boat, having lunches with the cousins/friends, playing cards/games with friends, knitting, crocheting, reading, completing jigsaw puzzles, and solving sudoku puzzles.

Survivors include: her children, William (Terri) Sorenson and Lori (Mark) Mylin; granddaughters, Kasey (Ben) Peterson and Jenna (Carson Beaty) Mylin; the newest addition, great granddaughter, Charlotte Peterson; her nieces, Debi Miller, Christi (Michael) Bullis, and Susan Petersen; and nephew, Michael Sorenson.  In addition to her parents and husband, Gale was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Barbara Sorenson; uncles and aunts; other family members; and friends.

I’m just floored by Gale’s passing so soon after Keith’s. She was my aunt and I enjoyed spending time with her especially up at the cottage on weekends and during family get-togethers. A lot of people will miss her.

Forgot to mention it at the funeral home, however, would like you to know what a pleasure it was to have her, and Keith, involved with the Russ & Eleanor situation, they were just so thoughtful and fun to work with.

Testimonials

January 9, 2025

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024.  Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you.  Michael, you demonstrated  professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state.  Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief.  May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)

Valerie Tucker and the Family of Barbara Bell
