It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Mae Bogan, a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved member of the Racine community. She peacefully departed this earthly realm on January 26, 2024, at her residence in Racine, WI, surrounded by her loving family. Jessie’s journey began on March 21, 1948, in Sunflower County, Mississippi, where she was born to proud parents, Uster and Bertha Thompson.  She was the first born of nine.

Jessie, known for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and loving heart, leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the lives of those who knew her. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and her unwavering devotion to her family was truly inspiring.  She dedicated her years to creating a welcoming home and nurturing her family with love and care. During this time of sorrow, let us remember the extraordinary woman Jessie was and the profound impact she had on our lives. May her gentle soul find eternal peace and may we find solace in the cherished memories that will forever reside within our hearts.

Jessie was a resilient woman, overcoming life’s challenges with courage and determination. Her unwavering faith carried her through difficult moments, and she was known as a pillar of strength in her community. Although she has departed from our embrace, her spirit will continue to reside within the hearts of those she touched. The memory of Jessie Mae Bogan will be lovingly cherished by three sons, Edward, Curtis, Antonyo; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Robert, Jr.; grandson, Mally; three sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services to celebrate Jessie’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Melvin Hargrove officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.

Rest in heavenly peace, dear Jessie Mae Bogan. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
