Miller's FlowersRome, WI (formerly of Racine) – Julianne Marie (nee: Kettinger) Pederson , age 69, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with the love of her family, on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
Julie was born in Racine on October 6, 1954 to the late Gervase “Gary” and Alice (nee: Vosika) Kettinger. She was a 1972 graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. A couple of months later, on July 22, 1972 in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Glen A. Pederson.
With a passion for animals, Julie served our community as a professional dog groomer for over 25 years. Julie and Glen raised & showed their canine companions, especially English Cocker Spaniels, all over the country. In Dec. of 2000, Julie and Glen followed their dream of moving to Central Wisconsin in the township of Rome, WI. It was there that she was employed as the concessions manager at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course.
A 12-year cancer survivor, Julie was diagnosed with follicular non-hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2008. In 2012, she had a stem cell transplant, donated by her dear sister Mary, which was influential in Julie becoming cancer free. In 2022, Julie started with cardiac and kidney trouble, eventually needing dialysis in 2024. Her body became too tired and she was placed into the caring hands of Compassus Hospice to keep her comfortable in her last days.
Catholic by faith, Julie had been a member of St. John Nepomuk in Racine. She was extremely talented in crocheting. She was so devoted to her hobby, that she crocheted with fiber arts at the Lester Public Library of Rome and had a booth at the Rome farmer’s market to sell her creations for 8 years.
Surviving are her husband of over 52 years, Glen; daughter, Erica (Aaron) Smits of Green Bay; son, Jason (Susan) Pederson of Oak Creek; grandchildren, Kaisha Emma Smits and Abigail Rose Smits; sister-in-law, Annette Pederson of Racine; brothers-in-law, David (Karen) Pederson of Twin Lakes, MI and Robert (Heidi) Pederson of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary (William) Adams; Glen’s parents, Theodore and Doris Pederson; and brother-in-law, Mark (Rose) Pederson.

Judy & Ron Van Wie says
We’ve been blessed with Julie’s friendship for so many years and have many memories-from beating our guys at pinochle (not often) to good times shared in Lake Arrowhead, then Florida & South Carolina. We think of Julie every time we look at the crocheted hornets nest hanging by our back door-the one our pest control guy tried to dispose of! So many reasons to smile and be thankful. Our hearts are with you, Glenn and with your family.
Steven Thompson says
Dear Glen and family, I’m so sorry for for your loss of Julie. She was such a wonderful woman unbelievable all the talents that she had. Every day I look at my hornets nest on my porch and I think of her. When I lived up in Lake Arrowhead near you, Glen it was always nice to be able to visit and she was extremely friendly to me. You can’t put a price on good neighbors.
Again, I’m so sorry for your loss Glen and family. May Julie‘s look on life be shared with the rest of your family.
