Shirley Ann Holman

Aug 8, 1948 – Jan 12, 2016

MOUNT PLEASANT – Mrs. Shirley Ann Holman, 67, passed away and was welcomed home by her Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2016.

   She was born in Falkner, MS on August 9, 1948, the daughter of Ed and Willard (nee: Jeanes) Blackwell.  She grew up in Racine and attended Washington Park High School.  On August 9, 1996, she married George Holman.

   Shirley retired from AMC/Chrysler after over 30 years of service.  She was a faithful member of Greater Grace Temple Church of God in Christ.  Shirley enjoyed ceramics, cooking; especially new recipes, and shopping through her favorite catalogues. 

  In addition to her husband, George, she is survived by her son, Tony Blackwell; her granddaughter, Tanisha Carothers; her brother, Jimmie (Susan) Blackwell of Mount Pleasant; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rossie McDougal of Sturtevant, Susie Martin-Holman of Benttendorf, IA, Qtroy (Christine) Holman of Racine, Jarvie (Debra) Holman of Oxford, MS, Nora (Vassie) Pegues of Cleveland, MS, John Holman of Oxford, MS as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Joy Blackwell, Toy Blackwell, Jamie (Art) Harman and Shirlean (Leslie) Jennings.

   Family and friends are invited to meet in Greater Grace Temple Church of God in Christ (522 N. Memorial Dr.) on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for the celebration of her Homegoing with Pastor Jettie L. Cornett officiating.   There will be a visitation in the church from 10-11 a.m.  Her interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
