Julie’s Personal Touch

Racine – Suzanne Jean Haas, age 73, passed away peacefully at Aurora – St. Luke’s Medical Center on Tuesday evening, September 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born in Racine on February 2, 1944 to the late Earl and Gertrude (nee: Dederich) Larke. On September 29, 1962, she was united in marriage with Raul Joseph Perez, who sadly died on March 9, 1968. On August 1, 1975 she was united in marriage with Rollin Earl Haas, who preceded her in death on June 19, 2003.

During her working career, Sue was employed with Racine Journal Times, S & R Towing, Nelson’s Dime Store and Lee’s True Value Hardware, from where she retired in 2009. Among her interests, Sue was extremely talented at crafting and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed listening to classic country music. But most of all she loved spending most of her time being involved with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Kathleen (Bruce) Schatzman, Thomas (Lila) Perez, John (Kim) Perez and Rollin “J.R.” (Tiffany) Haas; grandchildren, Lee and Abby Schatzman; Aldana and Olivia Perez; Jenna, Kara and James Perez; and Landon Haas; sisters-in-law, Mary Perez and Dolores (John) Moreno; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Sue was preceded in death by her siblings, Oliver, Richard, Lois and Arlene; sister-in-law, Virginia (Victor) Moreno; and in-laws, Refugio & Wenseslada Perez and Earl & Mary Haas.

Funeral services will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 pm. Graveside services will be on Monday, September 11th, at 11:30 am in Mound Cemetery, 1147 West Boulevard (Please meet at cemetery entrance by 11:30 am). A luncheon will follow. Memorials to American Heart Association or the Wisconsin Humane Society have been suggested.

Special note of thanks to Dr. David Zablotney and Dr. Eric Weiss & team (especially Nurse Jodie) and to Aurora St. Luke’s CVICU for their compassionate care and support given in Sue’s time of need.

Even though I didn’t know Sue, I have gotten to know Kathy and her family. And through them I feel like I knew Sue. The way they talked of her with such love and the wonderful attributes she passed down to them, it obvious she was a special woman. Love you guys. 💜

Sue became part of our family even though she could have ventured in many different directions. She chose to be with the Perez knowing of our grandmothers good intentions. My cousins and their siblings I am very proud of in their accomplishments. This is due to the fine bring by their mother. May you rest in peace

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike and the staff went above and beyond during our very difficult time with passing of our Opa. Mike helped relieve the immense stress by being extremely professional, paying attention to the smallest details and the overall kindness and compassion in caring for our family at our time of need. We do not believe that a thank you truly covers our deep gratitude towards you. Thank you for everything you have done for us.
