Suzanne M. Buffham

May 8, 1935 – Jun 15, 2023

Service Details

A celebration of Sue’s life is being planned for a later date.

Sue passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15th at Hospice Alliance/Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Sue was born May 8, 1935 in Racine.

Sue was an amazing mom to Ryen (Phil) Hagemann, Wendy (Rick) Bowman and Mike (Debbie) Buffham, and former daughter-in-law Denise Hodge. “Pretty Grandma Sue” to Richy Bowman (Milly), Ronny Bowman, Christopher Clausen, Megan Cooper, Kirsten (Courtland) Winegar, Clara Buffham (Kevin Paguel), Jasper Hagemann and Paige Hagemann. Sue had a gift of creating a unique bond with each grandchild. They were her greatest joys.  Sue was a doting great-grandmother to Maxwell and Apple Cooper, Ben Bowman, and Aubrey Winegar. Special aunt to Linda, Katie, and Nora.

Sue is also survived by her Harvest Home family whom she adored and was fortunate enough to reside with for the past year. She was their favorite “grouch” and was always able to make people laugh and feel special. Special thank you and hugs to Angel, Cindy, Claudia, and the entire staff and the special residents at Harvest Home who were always there for Sue and our family.

Sue is also survived by her dear friends and well-traveled companions Elaine Hazlett, Sue Renquist, Carol Winterle, Nancy Litrenta, and many more friends that are too numerous to list here today. Our family is beyond grateful for their support and love.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Luetta Scheller, sister Barbara Davis and her dear friend Dorothy Brezinski who passed away from cancer on Sue’s birthday in 2015.

Sue loved her life. She retired from Heinrich Tools after 26 years. In retirement, she always had something epic to look forward to.  You could find Sue in interesting corners of the world, zooming around in her sports car, dominating on the golf course, or taking tricks at a card table playing a fierce game of Bridge. Sue loved to read and visited the library on a rotating basis when she wasn’t cheering for the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers. She had great pride in her Racine community. Her quick wit and high intelligence always made her a welcome guest. She was even entertaining her wonderful doctors and nurses during her final hours. Sue will be greatly missed as she was greatly loved.

A celebration of Sue’s life is being planned for a later date.

Testimonials

Last warm-hearted care of our mother

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
