William James Sharkey

Mar 24, 1934 – Jan 10, 2013

Racine – William James Sharkey, 78, received the promise of eternal life on Thursday, January 10, 2013.  He was born in Racine on March 24, 1934, son of the late William Alexander and Lillian (nee: Corbeille) Sharkey.

William was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carole J. (nee: Hunn) Sharkey, on December 26, 1959.  Carole preceded him in death on September 1, 2004.

William loyally worked for 30 years for J.I. Case until he retired in 1989.  He faithfully served our country in the United States Army during Korea.  William was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed many trips with the Miller gang.  He also enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors.  William and Carole are former members of Salmon Unlimited.  He loved to sit with a beer and watch old westerns on television.  William enjoyed spending time working on his back yard to make it nice and neat.  Above all, William treasured his time with Carole and adored his family.

William leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Tina (Jeffrey) Dickman of Racine; grandchildren, Jessica Carole (Kyle W. Olson) Dickman, Nathan William Dickman, both of Racine; great-grandson, Wyatt James Olson; daughters, Gloria, Dorothy, and their families; siblings, Patricia Whitney, Mary L. Miller, Joanne Sharkey; sister-in-law, Joanne H. Boughton; aunt, Violet Hermann; many special nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  In addition to his parents and wife, William is preceded in death by his siblings, Beverly Hall, Roger (Sandy) Sharkey; brothers-in-law, Donald Boughton, Chuck (Ida) Hunn, Tom (Pinky) Hunn, and Roy (Midge) Hunn.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013, 12:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 10am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

The Sharkey family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Martha for the love and care she gave to William.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Testimonials

Last warm-hearted care of our mother

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
