William R. Switzer

Oct 25, 1951 – Jul 19, 2024

Service Details

A memorial service honoring and celebrating Bill’s life will be held privately.

William R. “Bill” Switzer, age 72, of Kenosha passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Bill was born in Kenosha and later moved to Racine where he attended school.

Bill taught himself how to play the guitar at a very young age. He later became a phenomenal lead guitar musician. He was a member of several bands including SASS, Sundance, Therica, Overkill, Back Talk, Jems, Windwatcher, and The Send Help Band.

He worked as a welder for Mettler Toledo for more than 30 years.

He will be fondly remembered for his love and talent for music, cooking, history, and geography. He also loved watching his Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

He had a special talent for making people laugh which was the main reason why his wife, Sheri, said yes when he proposed marriage 17 years ago.

He was taken too early, but we are sure that he’s up there playing guitar with some of the music greats that he so loved.

Bill is survived by his soulmate, Sheri L. Switzer; his children, Justin (Christy) Switzer, Kyle Switzer, and Kelly Gehrke; his grandchildren, Colt (Katey), Chase, Paul, Aubrey, and Brody; his great-grandchildren, Willow and Harlow; his canine companion, Max; two nieces,  Nicole (Jon) Eckblad and Dana Baldukas, many friends including one special friend and musician, Candy Eisenhauer.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Hadley; his sister, Caryl; a nephew, Peter Baldukas, and a special canine companion, Lambeau.

Testimonials

May 25, 2021

My family wants to thank you and your team for all that you did to walk along side us in my mom’s death and celebration of life. You all did an amazing job with such care, concern of details, and sensitivity to our family. I know my moms body was treated respectfully in your care and that meant the world to us to have confidence in that.
