Mary A. Orr

May 9, 1920 – Apr 24, 2006

Mrs. Orr, 85, died in St. Mary’s Medical Center on Monday, April 24, 2006. She was born in Racine on May 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Louis and Ruth (nee: Cosentino) Fallico Sr. On May 8, 1943, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, here in Racine, she was united in marriage to John “Jack” Orr, who preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1972. Mrs. Orr had been employed by Racine County. She worked as the secretary to Assistant County Treasurer Karla Richter. She was also employed by Modine Mfg. and Jacobsen Mfg. Mrs. Orr was very active in various civic organizations. She was a past president of the Milwaukee Archdiocese Association of Catholic Women, a past president of Church Women United, a past president of the Daughters of Isabella, and a past president of the Racine Garden Club, and a Trustee and Village Clerk for the Village of Elmwood. At one time she ran for Village President. Mrs. Orr also created, edited and distributed the village newsletter. She was also active in Big Sisters and an advisor for Junior Achievement. Mrs. Orr also created artwork for the newsletters for organizations she served as Secretary; including the Village of Elmwood Park and the Racine Symphony Guild. Mrs. Orr was a nominee for “Woman of the Year” by the Racine Woman’s Civic Council. She was an avid gardener. Her home was on the Racine Garden Club Tour for many years. The Journal Times did several articles on her gardens. Roses being her love, even painting one across her entire garage door. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. Surviving are her nieces and nephew, Donna Niyri, Patricia Fallico, Linda Bell, Debra Zietz, David Fallico, and their families. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Frank, Louis Jr., and Arthur Fallico and by her sister Louise Fallico. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., on Monday, May 1st, at 12 o’clock Noon, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the Church, on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Garden Crypts. Memorials have been suggested to either St. Catherine’s High School or your favorite charity.
