Diane June Ernst

Sturtevant – Diane June Ernst, 73, passed away at home on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Diane was born in Racine on June 7, 1934, daughter of the late Martin and Ann (nee: Elias) Gratz. On November 27, 1950 she was married to Edward A. Ernst. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1993. Diane was an energetic woman who loved to laugh, and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was and avid Cubs fan, and like to make trips to the casino with her friends. She will be missed greatly by her children, Edward (Susan) Ernst of Sturgeon Bay, Terry (Adalsor Valero) Ernst of Sturtevant and Venezuela S.A., and Laurie Ernst of Sturtevant; grandchildren, Molly (Tony) Kleiman of Milwaukee, Alison Ernst of Sturgeon Bay, Karla (Scott) Docken, and Melissa Ernst both of Madison, and Nicholas Ernst of Racine; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and good friends, including Barbara Schultz, Marlene Schueppler, and Fern Johnson all of Sturtevant. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joyce. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. On Wednesday, June 11, 2008 with Rev. Kara Baylor officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to The A.L.S. Association – Wisconsin Chapter, 2505 North 124th Street, Suite 105, Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005, or Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, 1055 Prairie Drive. Racine, WI 53406 have been suggested.

Thank you so very much for the exemplary care that you provided for both our mom and dad. Your family is extremely kind and exudes much empathy towards others. You and your staff display much professionalism with great talent and attention to detail. Mom and dad were always very particular in their appearance. Mom would say, You are leaving a lasting impression of yourself with someone to remember you by. Your parents taught you boys well; be very proud of that! Love on them, as death is so very permanent.

Holly and I are officially orphans now. It is people like your family and David Huck being there for us, that bring comfort when you are going through one of the most difficult challenges life throws at you.

I thank God every day for our Ostergaard family and will always cherish the memories.
