Racine – Earl Henry Thompson, 89, passed away at WFH All Saints Hospital on Saturday, November 13, 2010. He was born in Racine on March 5, 1921, son of the late Henry and Meta (nee: Young) Thompson.  Earl was a graduate of Park High School, and was a lifelong Racine resident.  On February 14, 1942 he was united in marriage to Esther Mae Lattish in Atonement Lutheran Church.

Earl served proudly and honorably in the Army during WWII. After returning home to Racine he began a 37 year career with the City of Racine Department of Public Works, retiring in 1983. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who was happiest when in the company of his family. He loved square dancing, and was member of the Circle Eight Square Dance club where he was a caller for 25 years. He was an avid supporter of the Shriners Hospital. Earl was also a member of VFW post 1391; the Salvation Army; and a lifetime member of Atonement Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Esther; their children, Joanne (David) Keithly, and Suzanne (Karl) Seitz both in N. Carolina, and Wayne (Kathleen) Thompson of Racine; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Vernon (Mae) Thompson of Racine; sister-in-law, Ann Lattish; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Carol Thompson; brother-in-law, Murvel “Dick” Lattish; and sister-in-law, Betty Wikstrom.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, November, 19, 2010 in Atonement Lutheran Church.  Interment and Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitations will be held in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7p.m., and Friday in the church beginning at 10a.m. Memorials to the Shriners Hospital; or Atonement Lutheran Church have been suggested.

Testimonials

December 22, 2016

Thank you so much for your staff’s gentle, patient, and thorough management of my nephew’s memorial service yesterday. It was run to perfection, and we couldn’t be more pleased. From the beautiful slide show transitions to the quality audio system to the easels, pedestals and Kringle…all details were impeccable and appreciated.
