Art Wickert

vet
May 5, 1973 – Dec 6, 2012

Racine – Art Wickert, 39, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 6, 2012.  He was born in the Philippines on May 5, 1973, son of Daniel and Evelyn (nee: Paguio) Wickert.

Art graduated in Gurnee, IL, from Warren Township High School in 1991.  He proudly and faithfully served his country with the United States Navy during Desert Storm.  On June 25, 2011, Art was married to the love of his life, Jodie Wright.  He loved cooking and will always be famous for his prime rib and pecan pie.  Art was an avid fan of sport motorcycles and loved watching motorcycle racing on TV.  He was a Milwaukee Brewers fan and enjoyed going to games with Jodie.  Art will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Art leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jodie Wickert of Racine; parents, Daniel and Evelyn Wickert of Park City, IL; brother, William (Heather) Wickert of Antioch, IL; grandmother, Flora Paguio of the Philippines; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Franklin and Theresa Wright of Racine; sister-in-law, Jennifer Dahnert of Racine; brother-in-law, Kevin (Samantha) Wright of Racine; and other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  Art is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Janet Wickert.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012, 12:30pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:30am until the time of the service.  Private interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dover on a later date.  Memorials have been suggested to Jodie Wickert for a memorial to be established.

I was lucky enough to have Art as a manager/co-worker for about 6 months, right around when he was getting prepared for the wedding. I remember him coming back after the honeymoon with an album of all the pictures and being SO excited. Art was always the person to put a smile on my face when work was dragging me down and he always had the best sense of humor about EVERYTHING. I will miss him very dearly, and I’m sad I will never be able to pick up the phone and hear his voice on the other end. 🙁 To Jodie and Art’s family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during these trying times and just remember now you have another angel watching down on you.

    God bless.

I had the pleasure of working with Art for a short time at the BBB in Wilmette. He also had a smile on his face and was truly a great person. He will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this tragic time.

I was saddened at the passing of Art Wickert. Death casts a shadow over you as you go about your daily life. Your love one۪s death brings you face-to-face with the fact that he is gone too soon. While you call to mind the happy memories, you may also remember the enormity of the loss. But, Do not let your hearts be troubled۝. (John 14:27) May you find comfort as the the last enemy۝, death will be done away with. (1 Corinthians 15:25, 26).

Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. ~Author Unknown

We would like to personally thank Brian for what a warm, compassionate funeral you arranged. You always put our thoughts first and answered and responded to my many phone calls about everything. The artistry of the belongings of our son was amazing. Everything was so beautiful. So many people complimented on how the arrangement was set up by you. We as a family will never forget what you did for us in our time of need. Thank you very much Brian.
