Michael Andre Cosey

Oct 24, 1973 – Jul 20, 2013

Racine – Michael Andre Cosey, 39, received the promise of eternal life on Saturday, July 20, 2013.  He was born in Racine on October 24, 1973, son of Dewey Honor, Jr. and Joyce Cosey.

Michael was united in marriage to the love of his life, Tameeka (nee: Goodwin) Cosey, on February 14, 2003, at Higher Dimensions C.O.G.I.C. in Racine.

Mike was a machinist for R & B Grinding.  He enjoyed music of all types including R&B.  He was a sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers and the San Antonio Spurs.  Mike loved fishing.  He traveled far and wide to spend peaceful hours enjoying God’s beauty on the lake.  Mike was a God-fearing man of prayer.  He was a member of Higher Dimensions C.O.G.I.C. in Racine and spent much of his time studying God’s word.  Above all, Mike was a devoted family man and a tremendous provider for his family.  He adored his children whom he affectionately called Nunu (now Skoop) and Baby.  Mike and Tameeka would take trips together every year for their anniversary.  These trips included places such as Jamaica, Mississippi, Memphis, St. Louis, and the Wisconsin Dells just to name a few.  He was happiest when he was able to get the entire family together for any occasion.  Mike will be dearly missed.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his adoring wife, Tameeka Cosey of Racine; children, Na’jeer Cosey, Nakira Cosey, both of Racine; parents, Dewey Honor, Jr. , Joyce Cosey, both of Racine; brothers, Christopher A. Cosey, Dewey Honor III, both of Racine; sister, Melissa (Kerry) Jackson of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Zamiria Cosey, Alexis Honor, Jakyla Goodwin, Christopher Cosey, Jr., Terrance Miller, Jr., Melissa A. Cosey, Sharmar Jackson, Samyra W. Honor; mother-in-law, Rosemary (Eugene) Terry of Racine; grandmother-in-law, Earlene Thompson of Jackson, MS; brothers-in-law, Mecquon Goodwin, Jeryale Goodwin; aunts and uncles, Loretta (Robert) Holland, Warnetta Smith, Warren Cosey, Jr., Wenda Coldtrain, Antoinette Cosey, Anthony Cosey, Willy (Doris) Harris, Dan (Easter) Honor; special friends, Big Mike, Leighton, Rich, Blue, Pat, Wheezy; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends too numerous to mention.  Mike is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Richard Goodwin; uncles, Robert Russell, Henry Honor, Costello Webb; aunt, Pashan Bell; grandparents, Dewey (Daisy) Honor, Sr., Warren (Dorothy) Cosey, Sr., and grandparents-in-law, Dave (Alice) Goodwin.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 2013, 12:00pm, at Higher Dimensions C.O.G.I.C., 1500 Grange Avenue, with Pastor Adrian Malone officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Interment will take place on Monday, July 29, 2013, 11:00am, at Graceland Cemetery in Racine.

In 2005 I interviewed Michael for our family newsletter. I want to share a quote from the article. “Regarding his life he said he is very happy with the changes he made in his life.” Michael said, “I am not perfect, if I were perfect I would not need God, however I am working to be as perfect as I can be. He said he dares any one to try God, take a chance and try the Lord.” I just wanted to share this so you will all know why our family will truly miss our mild-mannered, soft-spoken, but “tell it-like-it-is-cousin, brother, son, uncle, and nephew.” Tracy

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family

Theresa Lynn Carls
