Racine – Dorothy H. Langel, 93, passed away at All Saints hospital on Thursday, December 26, 2013. She was born in Clark County, Iowa on March 18, 1920, daughter of the late Arthur and Maude (nee: Propst) Neveln. She was a Racine resident for most of her life.

Dorothy retired from both Hamilton Beach and Webster Electric.  She was a great homemaker, and raised her grandson, Steven as if he was her own. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by her grandson, Steven (Virginia) Dodd; great grandson Richard (Casey) DeLao; and great-great grandsons Ronan and Kai DeLao. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Florence Dodd; 5 sisters and 1 brother.

Complete funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2014 with Rev. John Roekle officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Dorothy will be returned to Osceola, Iowa and laid to rest alongside her family in a private ceremony. Memorials to the family are kindly suggested.

We extend special thanks to Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, the entire staff at All Saints Hospital, and especially those in the oncology department on 3B for the compassionate care provided to Dorothy.

I will miss Aunt Dorothy very much. She was one of the most fun, caring, and strong women I have ever known. She was like a Grandma to me! She did an absolutely wonderful job raising Steve and likewise he did a wonderful job taking care of her. I know Steve was the joy of her life! I feel blessed to have been in her life! I love you and miss you Aunt Dorothy!

    Steven,
We were so sorry to hear about the loss of your Grandma. We know that she was very special to you.
You would often bring her to John Van Thiel۪s shows. She will surely be missed at his shows.
Debbie Kaufman told us that she had suffered a stroke just before Christmas. This is
an especially hard time of year to lose someone. We hope that we will be able to see you next week,
at the Potawatomi Elvis shows. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
    Love,
    Mary and Lou Cornelius .
