Laura Black

Feb 10, 1921 – Jan 20, 2016

South Milwaukee – Laura Black, 94, passed away on January 20, 2016, at Willowcrest Care Center.  She was born in Racine on February 10, 1921, daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Née: Madsen) Chaussee.

Laura had a commitment to staying fit and healthy.  She would faithfully walk and exercise and, as a result, constantly looked younger than her true age.  She was an avid Milwaukee Braves fan as well as a Green Bay Packers fan.  Laura took extreme pride in her yard to make sure it always looked it’s best.  Laura enjoyed bowling in her earlier years.

Laura leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Roy (Barbara) Olson, Daniel (Kathy) Olson; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Arlene) Chaussee; sister, Tessie Dejarlais; other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Laura is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William T. Black, in 1964; sisters, Sylvia Stone, Dorothy Coleman; brothers, Kenneth, George, James, and Charles Chaussee.

According to Laura’s wishes, her body was donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin to further research in medicine.  Laura’s family is planning a Memorial Mass to be said on Laura’s birthday, Wednesday, February 10, 2016.  The Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Shrine of Our Lady of Good Hope, 4047 Chapel Drive, New Franken, WI.

The family has suggested memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
