Racine – Matthew Ryan Johnson, age 17, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, as the result of a seizure, on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Matthew was born in Kenosha on October 5, 2000 to Jason Ryan Johnson and April Lynn Langdon. He attended the schools of West Ridge and Starbuck….and was currently a Junior at JI Case High School, where he ran Track & Cross-Country. Matthew was also working at Piggly Wiggly – Spring Street in the Produce Department.
Outside of school and work, Matthew enjoyed playing video games, camping, swimming, and spending time with his entire family and extended circle of friends – especially with his girlfriend, Erika Johnson.
Surviving are his heart-broken parents, Jason (Heather Braun) Johnson and April Langdon; brothers & sisters, Jaden Kahn, Ashley Jenner, Kaylee Jenner and Collin Johnson; step-sister, Jaira Braun; step-brother, Parker Burch; great-grandparents, Ray & Deloris Langdon; grandparents, Bob & Frieda Langdon, Mary & Dave Strauss and Don & Barb Bielinski; dear aunts and uncles, Jenny (Jeff) Krzyzanowski, Jason (Rosemarie) Langdon, Kenny Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson and Laura Beutler; special cousin, Austin Woyach; girlfriend, Erika Johnson; cousins, other relatives and devoted friends – too numerous to mention all by name. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Johnson.
Funeral services honoring Matthew’s life will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 7:00 pm with Pastor John Fleming officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 pm.

I knew Matthew since middle school (Starbuck Middle School) and we were good friends. To hear that he has passed on has really hurt my heart because he had a place in it that won’t be filled. He was funny, loving and smart and always loved his family. After middle school we lost connection but surprisingly he walked into my job (Blaze Pizza) with his girlfriend and was sooooo surprised to see me I fooled around with his pizza only putting a pinch of cheese on it , one pepperoni etc before he left I said I’ll see you around but never did. I wish I could see him one more time so I could tell him how good he was and how much he meant to people. I am deeply sorry for your lost but Matthew will always be remembered by me and his loved ones.

I don’t know him personally, but I go to the same school as Matthew. I’ve seen him in the hallways a lot, I’ve also went to Starbucks middle school with him, it’s so tragic that he passed so soon, he was so young, just like me. My prays go to him and his family.

Matthew was the best guy to hang out with. we swam together and hung out at the gaming lounge the one time he went. Matthew was an amazing friend, he was always there for me when i needed him and listen when i had problems. he was always smiling and having fun, there was never a dull moment with him. i remember wiping down the board with him in computer science and he told me to live my life day by day and be positive in the sad moments. i miss him and i wish i could tell him how grateful i am that he was in my life, im sorry for your lose Mr and Mrs Johnson, he will never be forgotten. we all loved him.
