B. Arthur "Art" Nielsen

Sep 22, 1934 – Mar 18, 2018

Service Details

A celebration of Art’s life is planned in the near future.

Mount Pleasant – B. Arthur (Art) Nielsen died at his home Sunday, March 18th, surrounded by his loving wife and family.  Art was born on September 22nd, 1934, in Racine, WI.  He was the son of the late Viggo and Anna Nielsen.

He was a graduate of Park High and MATC. In 1964 Art married the love of his life, Karen Hansen and enjoyed a 54-year marriage. Art made many good friends throughout the years.  He worked for Young Radiator and then returned to school to complete his degree at MATC.  Art then went on to manage Bill’s Cycles Inc. for many years. Later, Art found his calling when he joined United Mechanical as the Shop Manager. He loved going to work every day at United Mechanical and retired after 20 years at the age of 79.  His passion in life was to spend good times with his family, neighbors and friends. Art also enjoyed great jazz, gardening, working around and on his home and on his woodworking with his condo birdhouses being his greatest joy.  He was known to all as a decent, loyal and considerate gentleman.

Art is survived by his loving wife Karen, his sister Betty, his brother-in-law Richard and wife Alice Hansen and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and their families.

Special thanks to Kirk and Leslie Gain, Barb and Andy Meyer, Victor and Jennifer Cihler and their son, Victor, as well as numerous friends, relatives and neighbors who made his life and passing easier for him and Karen. Many thanks to the staff of Ridgewood, Home Instead, Wheaton Home Health and Wheaton Hospice for their loving care and kindness.

A celebration of Art’s life is planned in the near future.

Testimonials

July 6, 2018

My parents told me of your kindness, generosity, and servitude when we lost my brother. They needed that strength and your light came through. Thank you.
