Racine – George Dimitrios Piliouras, age 66, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha on Monday, April 22, 2019 surrounded with the love of family.

A proud Greek, George was born in Leonidion, Greece on November 29, 1952 to the late Dimitrios and Sophia (nee: Smyros) Piliouras. In pursuit of the American dream, his family immigrated to the United States in 1968 when he was just 15 years old. Immediately, he started working in the restaurant business. For the past 36 years,  George has been the proud owner of Marina Garden Family Restaurant in Kenosha, where he truly enjoyed serving our communities and creating many, many friendships with customers throughout his career.

On July 13, 1980 George was united in marriage with his beautiful bride & love of his life, Maria K. (nee: Parigori). Outside of the restaurant, he was an extreme Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed returning to his birthplace of Greece, whenever he could. Above all, he loved spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren. They were his everything.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Maria; their wonderful children, Dimitrios Piliouras, Sophia Piliouras, Katherine (Brandon) Swedlund and Dino (Brittany) Piliouras; adored grandchildren, Alexa and George Swedlund; sister, Thomais (Steve) Rentoulis; mother-in-law, Katherina Parigori; sisters-in-law, Nikki Piliouras and Gianna Parigori; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives (in the US & Greece), customers and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Piliouras; sister, Soula (Mike) Oikonomou; and father-in-law, Kostas Parigori.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 12:00 noon in Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 S. Green Bay Rd. in Racine, with Rev. Father Athanasios Pieri officiating. Testimonials

May 22, 2019

We recently used Draeger-Langendorf’s services for my grandmothers funeral and we are so thankful for Mike and the rest of the staffs help. They made the whole process easy and never urged us to make a certain choice. They were very informative of how the service was going to go and always made sure we knew what was going on. To our surprise Mike Langendorf was there singing in the choir during the funeral and it really made us feel like he truly cared about us. Such a fantastic singing voice! Amazing people to have helping plan during a hard time, would highly recommend.
