Service Details

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, November 2, 2020 for a visitation from 5-7 p.m.  

A service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.  

ATLANTA, GA (FORMERLY OF RACINE) –  Jerry Andrews, age 57, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Jerry was born on June 10, 1963 to the late Julie (Diz) Blannon. Jerry resided with his Aunt Bessie (Nanny) Andrews. He was a 1981 graduate of Park High School, and attended college in Minnesota, Texas and Milwaukee, WI.

Jerry loved and enjoyed playing basketball. He was an amazing coach and trainer.  Jerry was an avid basketball trainer to many and was very passionate about working with children/teenagers in the community. Not only was he their trainer he also mentored them about life lessons. Jerry had the opportunity to train several great nieces and nephews. He enjoyed watching basketball and football, his energy and presence filled the room with laughter and joy. Jerry played in two plays, produced by his late friend Keith Fenderson. Jerry also loved listening to jazz and was a really good cook. He had a great sense of humor and was a man of great character and integrity. If you were having a bad day or felt down, he had a way of getting you to smile or to make you laugh so you felt better. He was one of a kind and showed love for everyone he came in contact with.

He leaves to cherish his memories, Son Jerell Andrews and Granddaughter.  His sisters Julia (Judy) Andrews, Joann Andrews, Joyce (Arthur) McGee, Phynell (John) Branch, 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces/nephews. He is further survived by his Special niece, Bessie Meyer his game day partner, Special Friend Sandra Merriweather, best friends, Calvin Martin, Jay Lockridge and Felix Rogers and a host of cousins and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Julie (Diz) Blannon, Special Aunt Bessie Andrews, Uncle Champion Andrews, Grandmother Emma Andrews, Sisters Billie Jean Conner and Jackie Blackburn and nephews Corey and Phydell Andrews.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, November 2, 2020 for a visitation from 5-7 p.m.   A service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.

    Jerry you fought as long as you could will be miss deeply i sent you arrangements too the funeral home from me and my family they say give flowers when u alive but I had too pass that saying up lol gone too soon one of the racine realist leader to alot of family kids who play basketball from the late 70 to 2020 rip jerry Andrews !!!!
