Calvin “Leon” Martin was born on September 23, 1968 in Racine, Wisconsin to David Jones Jr. and Shirley Martin and received his golden wings on January 4, 2021.  At the early age, Leon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

As a small boy Leon moved to Oxford, Mississippi with his grandparents where he received his education. Leon later relocated back to Racine as an adult, where he became a member of Shiloh C.O.G. I.C. His faith was strong and he loved God.

Leon loved anything centered around cars, fixing cars, his, your, even people he didn’t know in fact he was good at it and could probably do it with his eyes close.  Leon was always the go-to person if anything needed to be fixed on a car.  Leon loved to race cars in his earlier years. He travelled as much as possible and loved fishing. His favorite hang-out was the gas station on 6th Street.

Calvin was very passionate about cooking and was a phenomenal grill master. He always talked about opening a restaurant. His dream finally became reality and Catfish and More was established in February of 2017 as he was a silent partner.  Calvin worked until he and his business partner decided to close to pursue other business ventures until his health began to decline.

Leon leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters: Deandra Martin, Shikara Johnson and Dakyra Strong.  Siblings: Martha (Delvin) Hoard, Hiwithain (Lekeitha) Hicks, Carrie Martin, Christopher Martin, Michelle Grandberry, Rhonda, Daryl, Daniel and Tyrone. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dear to his heart were: Sarah Martin, Alcinder, Efferm , Tiffany & Katrina Grandberry, Ashanti, Arshawn Martin, David Martin, Tyrone Gavin, Diana Kelly and special caregiver friend Vanessa Boutwell-Belcher.  Leon preceded in death his father and mother, Curtis& Lellar Martin and James Martin.
