Eric was one of a handful of people in my life I could count on as a friend, counselor and advisor. When I saw Eric or got a phone call from him it was always a joyful moment of anticipation. I’m sure he and Jill have passed on wonderful character traits to their children and they will be a blessing to the next generation.

So sorry to hear of Eric’s death. He was a valued colleague at Moody for so many years. I enjoyed working with him and respected him a great deal. My heart goes out to Marv and Sharon, Jill and the children. Gene and I are shocked and saddened at this untimely loss.
We would love to attend the service, but unfortunately will be on an airplane on Thursday morning. But we will be praying for you in the days to come.

I was terribly sorry to hear of Eric’s death. He was a kind man who often stopped to talk to me in the hallways at Moody. He was always willing to help in any way he could; he blessed many people’s lives. I pray that his wife, his parents and his children ( I had Rachel as a student) will feel the love and support of many during this time of great loss.

Jackie Getz ( DeMotte, Indiana) says
I was certainly shocked and extremely saddened to learn of Eric’s passing. He was a colleague and dear friend of my husband while serving in the Stewardship Department at Moody together. I was very appreciative when he came to my husband’s funeral last June. It was a long trip for him to make, but typical of Eric’s loving way. He was so kind and generous with his time spent helping others. I’m sure he’ll have many crowns to place at the feet of our Lord. I pray for his family as they grieve his loss yet rejoice in the assurance they have in knowing that Eric is in Heaven with the Lord he loved and served.

Lisa Cashman says
Eric was a steadfast and patient boss. So many times I should have been allowed to move on and he gave me another chance. I hope he knows that I finally grew up and he had a part in that. Sometimes you don’t realize what you really have until it is gone… So many good times all together as an office and Eric always wanted us to have the best. He also was in instigator of office fun, even taking part in my engagement by making a fake furniture requisition for me to watch for which was really my husband in a bicycle box! Also, I remember the time when I had to go to traffic court and he sent me a lawyer to represent me, for a traffic ticket, ha! His wisest advice to me was probably that despite personality profiles, it is importantly to work hard and be faithful to whatever God has given you to do and God will grow you in faithfulness in ways we might not have realized. Also to his family, even though he was working a lot, you were everything to him. He loved you, spoke of you, and labored over you in prayer. Thank you Eric, may you receive the rewards for your faithfulness. Love, Lisa (Larson) Cashman

Doug & Cindy White says
We were able to view the livestream of Eric’s memorial service, which was truly beautiful.
It was a privilege to serve with Eric on the Servant Team and for Doug to serve alongside him as an elder. We spent many years together serving at CLCBC and it was a great joy to watch Eric & Jill’s children grow up. He was such a kind and unassuming man and we are glad to have known him.
Alan and Carroll Terwilleger, The Villages, Fl says
Saddened to hear of Erics passing. He was such a sincere Godly friend and gentleman, something that he inherited from his wonderful parents. I remember fondly our times together in his younger years before and during our time together at Moody. We fished together in Wisconsin and then Alaska where he was engaged to Jill as he flew above the tundra wilderness in a float plane. What great memories.
While year’s have past we occasionally would talk by phone or messenger and he would catch me up on things in his life. Sad to see him gone so soon. But Gods timing is perfect. Heaven is much richer with his presence there today. I look forward to a the day we all reunite with the saints who have gone before us.
Ellen Brand-Restis says
So very sorry to hear this. I saw a post on facebook just today, I had no idea Eric had passed. I hadn’t seen him since High School, but recall how he was always so friendly and kind to everyone. He was just a very gentle soul. Last interaction with him was to let him know I was voting for a home he had in a photo contest, a home he had made incredibly beautiful. That was Eric, making everything just a little more beautiful, both inside and out. Gonna miss you Eric, you were one of the good ones.
