Service Details
A celebration of Lou Della’s life and homegoing will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Bishop James Ford officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The service will be lived streamed at the link below.

Lou Della Schlitz received the promise of eternal life on February 20, 2022.
She was born on August 29, 1953, to the late Andrew Thomas and Florence Robinson in Chicago, Illinois. She received her early childhood education in Chicago. She also attended modeling school in the late 1970’s.
She relocated to Racine, Wisconsin, in the early 1980’s where she met and married her late husband, William Schlitz. She was employed at Multi Products where she was a line lead. She was also a home health aide for seniors living at home. Lou Della attended Gateway Technical College in Racine where she obtained her HSED diploma. She was very proud of her accomplishments.
She was a foster mom to many children in her community. She enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, gardening, camping, and barbecuing with her family. She also enjoyed listening to her blues and watching Lifetime on TV.
Lou Della was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Thomas, Sr. and Florence Robinson; her husband, William Schlitz; her daughter, Lolita Byrd; her grandson, D’Angelo Byrd; her mother and father-in-law; three sisters, Rennetta Smith, Debra Weathersby, and Pauline (Arthur) Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Tomika Byrd of Racine, Wisconsin, and Tawanda Byrd of Chicago, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Thomas, Jr. of Racine; one brother-in-law, Charles Weathersby; twelve other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; four foster children in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and best friends.

Lou Della was on my bowling team years ago. She was always a delight to be around. I have not seen her for years, but I shall always remember her …. She came to our 50th wedding anniversary and we had so much fun!
