RACINE – Donald Edmund Putzer, age 57, passed away unexpectedly at Froedtert Hospital, following complications after surgery, on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Donald was born in Racine on April 7, 1966 to the late Lon and Mary (nee: Carlson) Putzer. He was united in marriage with Cheryl Lynn (nee: Vorlob) Putzer on November 11, 1983. Sadly, she passed away at the age of 46 on February 4, 2014. A few years later, on August 26, 2016, Don married Sherry Lynn (nee: Kessinger) Putzer.

With a profound work ethic, Don was employed as a journeyman sheet metal worker / lead installer with Kiernan Heating & Air Conditioning for over 30 years. More recently, he was working for Sheet Metal Workers Local 18 at K-Komfort Heating & Cooling.

Don enjoyed golfing, camping, bonfires, Jim Beam, Miller High Life, and Green Bay Packers. He was a longtime volunteer for the Racine Raiders on the chain gang.  He was the life of the party, always up for a good time and making friends & family laugh, and enjoyed spending time with his entire family and extensive circle of friends – including those at Tommy’s, Russ’s Tap and Hi-O Headquarters.

Surviving are his wife, Sherry; daughter, Amanda (Tony Vara) Putzer; son, Joe Long; grandchildren, Alaina and Braiden Kruchten; sisters, Rhonda Roushia and Denise (Patrick) Wray; nieces & nephews, Stephanie, Justin (Kim) and Sarah Putzer; Courtney (Carlos) Pavia, Kayla (Brannon) Mata and Amber (Chris) Mayfield; Brittney, Emily and Brianna Putzer.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Don was preceded in death by brothers, Michael and Jon Putzer; niece, Kaylyn Putzer; and nephew, Joshua Putzer.

Funeral services, followed by military honors, will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Holly Anderle officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday, March 16th, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm.

Dear Langendorf Family,

There are no words to describe how thankful and loved we felt during our Grandpa’s funeral service. We are so lucky to know you as friends and we will be forever grateful for everything you have done for us and for Grandpa Mario throughout his lifetime and after his death. He loved you all and enjoyed sharing so many great times with you in the barbershop and as neighbors. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for all your caring ways and thoughtfulness and extend our appreciation to all at the funeral home who made Mario’s service so memorable.
