Service Details

A Memorial Mass for Mario will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, Racine, on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be at church on Friday from 10:30AM until the time of Mass. Everyone is invited to join Mario’s family in the church fellowship hall immediately following Mass for refreshments while sharing memories of Mario. The family would like to offer special thanks to the team at accentCare Hospice for the compassionate care and support given in Mario’s time of need.

Mario Quiroz Velasquez, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Mario was born in Racine to Frank and Consuelo (nee: Quiroz) Velasquez on March 9, 1958. He attended Park High School. Mario was employed as a brick layer with Creative Brick and Concrete for many years. Among his interests, Mario was an accomplished artist; enjoyed fishing; appreciated music, especially hard rock and Michael Jackson; watched movies in his spare time and was a self-acclaimed #1 Star Wars fan; loved cook outs and being with his family.

Surviving are his sons, Mario Schackleman, Adam and Marc (Tina) Velasquez; grandchildren, Adam Jr., Jacob, Alayna and Jaxson Velasquez; brothers and sisters, Frank (Kim), Gilbert, Antonio, Benigno, Victoria, Ravi (Julie) and Leonard (Lisa) Velasquez, Linda Dunkerly and Virginia “Gina” Salazar; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mario was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Consuelo; and sister, Diana Velasquez.
