Racine – Davis “David” Lee Martin, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at home, with family by his side, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

David was born in Racine,WI on March 12, 1959 to the late Grover Martin and Reatha Mae Ramsey. He attended Washington Park High School in Racine.

On June 30, 2001 in Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Marvie Lynn (nee: Branch) Martin. David was a master self-employed car mechanic, working on many automobiles for customers, family & friends. He also enjoyed working with his wife, Marvie, at Culver’s in Kenosha.

David was all about his family – all day, every day! He enjoyed fishing, yardwork, car shows, State Fair, Summerfest, mornings at MJ’s talking with the fellas and was an animal lover. David was a simple yet extraordinary man who always wore cowboy boots and talked to anyone who would listen.

Surviving are his loving wife, Marvie; sons, Marcus Dukes, Roderick Martin and Harrison Martin; grandchildren, Quintel, Maya, Mariah, Summer and Kahlani; brothers & sisters, Geneva Campbell, Jennifer Ramsey, John (Tashare) Ramsey, Jr., Cindy Martin, Erika Martin and Kelvin   (Lashonda) Martin; brothers-in-law, John (Phynell) Branch and Lyle Branch; sisters-in-law, Frieda Smith and Kendra Branch; extended family, Richard Martin, Lelia Carothers, Hubert Martin, MJ, Mr. Motown, Timothy Dukes and Hervie Martin; plus a citywide host of family & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to his parents Grover Martin and Reatha Mae Ramsey, David was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Martin; sisters, Johnnie Mae Martin and Janice Carothers; Marvie’s parents, Charley and Margaret Branch; and sister-in-law, Sheila Branch.

It’s sad to see you going on to Glory, cousin David (aka) Woody. Yes, we all have to make that journey at some time, but I will definitely miss the days of laughing and listening to some good ol’ blues with you at the garage or anywhere else while we’re sippin’ some “WATER” from down home.

Rare People… That was David! There are many people that we meet in our lives but only a very few will make a lasting impression on our minds and hearts. 💔 These people will always listen and talk to you. They will care about your happiness and well being. They will like you for who you are and they will support you all times. It is these people that we will think of often and who will always remain important to us as true friends. 🕊️My cousin you will be truly missed! RIP

    Love,
Earlene, Sheila, Shawn and Stan 🙏🏾
