MOUNT PLEASANT – Steve P. Monosa, Jr., 75, passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 22, 2025 with his loving wife at his side.

Steve was born in Racine on January 9, 1950. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1968. He and his bride, Debbie Lensby, married on May 21, 1988.

Steve co-owned and operated his family’s business, Central Saw, that he worked at small engine repair for over 35 years. After leaving Central Saw he worked in landscaping at Ground Effects and soon discovered he loved working outside and decided to start his own business, Design Landscape, including lawncare, landscaping and snow removal.  In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball with his Walleye buddies and later his Erickson teammates at Racine ball diamonds and out at Shane Rawley’s Sports Center. The highlight of that career was pitching strikeouts to some of the Philadelphia Phillies. He also loved RV camping with his wife and their beloved chihuahua, Stella, at the Wisconsin Riverside Resort in Spring Green, WI. He continued to work on equipment for family and friends in his garage whenever they needed his help.  He liked sharing breakfast with his longtime friend Dick Mielcarek and solving all the world issues with the rest of the Derango’s Men’s breakfast club. However, Steve’s greatest passion was fishing. Fishing, fishing and more fishing. Great Lakes, inland lakes or rivers, no problem. Most often his fishing cohorts were Floyd Willems or Lorin Lichterman. He looked forward to going to Kentucky each year to fish with many of his other fishing friends.

In addition to his wife, Debbie, Steve is survived by his daughters, Carrie Hogard and Robin Monosa; grandchildren, Kayla Hagarty, Matthew Hogard, Madison (Marcus) Gordon, Sierra Hogard, Ashley (Zach) Carner, and great grandchildren; his brothers, Jim (Vickie) Monosa, Kelly Kudrna, and Keith (Barbara) Kudrna; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy Imhof, Mike Lensby, Vickie (Jim) Monosa, Bonnie (Fred) Bruhn, and Rosemary (Mike) Martin; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, longtime friends and loyal customers.

Steve and his wife took a bucket list cross country train trip. They traveled to Washington State in January to meet their newest great grandbabies, Jack and Kade Carner. He was so proud and that was his last significant event of his life.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dorthy (nee Felber) and Edward Kudrna, Mother-In-Law, Jean (nee Leonard) Lensby; Uncles, Aunts, Brother-In-Law and so many of his dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, MARCH 22, 2025, for a visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  A service honoring Steve and celebrating his life will immediately follow at 11:00 am.

Sincere thanks from all of Steve’s family to Dr. Manish Pant, Oncology and Cancer Care Dept at St Luke’s, Milwaukee, WI. Also, Aurora At Home Hospice Care, for the compassionate care he received during his last days.

Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society, Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery or to one’s favorite animal shelter or charity.

Steve was one of the great ones. He would offer up fresh caught salmon for my mom after meeting her once and learning she loved it. I think of him everytime I use the earplugs that I got from him when he was clearing out a storage unit. He gave me the best deal, $1 for gallon bag of new earplugs. I will you. I will get Debbie out golfing again. ⛳️ ❤️

I wanted to personally thank the Draeger – Langendorf Family for the wonderful support and work they provided during my families time of grief when my sister Vanessa Davis Perry passed away in August of 2021. I also would like to thank Leslie Scales who personally assisted with the details of the service & worked with my family for it to turn out as planned.
