Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the ASPCA (or an animal shelter of your choice), or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Gregory John Frank was born in Hartland, Wisconsin to Donald and Ruby (nee Dailey) Frank on May 28, 1950. In 1960, his mother moved to Racine, Wisconsin, where Greg spent the rest of his life. Greg honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 – 1971. In 1973, Greg went to a trade show and given his artistic abilities, decided to pursue a painting apprenticeship. He soon mastered the craft and became an independent contractor known as “Gregory Frank Painting and Decorating.”  Greg never needed to advertise; his business thrived from word of mouth referrals. Greg was an exceptional artist with many different areas of expertise – drawing, decorative painting, and woodwork.

In 1977, Greg met Mary J. Penczykowski. Mary was the sister of Ruth Penczykowski who was engaged to Greg’s good friend, Steve Egmose.  After repeated failed attempts to get Mary to go out with him, she finally agreed. Greg and Mary were married in December 1978 and had two sons, Eric and Peter. Greg also welcomed many furry friends into his family including dogs and cats, as well as ducks and squirrels that feasted in his backyard.

Greg had many talents. He was an avid pool player and opened a pool hall named Boomers in Sturtevant.  He was one of those people that could make anything; wood furniture pieces, rubber band pistols, pillows; just to name a few.  He was a very fussy eater and decided to take up cooking later in life.  He was soon preparing delicious meals with just the right amount of spice for family dinners on Sunday nights.

Greg is survived by his son Eric Frank of Racine, sister Anne Frank Speed of Houston, Texas, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many longtime close friends.  Greg is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, son Peter,  father Donald Frank, mother Ruby Dailey Frank, brother-in-law Steve Egmose, and father-in-law Stanley Penczykowski.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Ascension All Saints Hospital, with a special thank you to ICU Nurse Carrie Zeller, for her compassionate care and longtime friendship with the Frank family.

    Maybe
    not
    heaven,
    but
    a movie
    theatre
    playing
    The Maltese Falcon,
    and Rio Bravo.

    Maybe
    not
    heaven,
    but an
    easy chair
    a good cigar
    and a
    better shiraz.

    Maybe not
    heaven,
    but a rack
    of eight ball
    at Boomers
    with Steve.

    Maybe not
    heaven,
    but a kitchen
    to cook in
    and a window
    to watch
    Mary
    play
    with the dog
    by the pond.

    Maybe not
    heaven,
    but that
    long
    train ride
    to New Orleans
    to be
    with Peter.- Gary Huck

Testimonials

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didn’t stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
