Racine – Patricia Ann (nee: Chones) Martin, age 74, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency room of Ascension All Saints Hospital Thursday morning, June 12, 2025.

Patricia was born in Racine on April 1, 1951 to the late JW and Mamie Sue (nee: Cannon) Chones. She attended William Horlick High School and graduated from JI Case High School. She began her career with Lincoln Lutheran before working as a supervisor for Southern Colony for 21 years, eventually becoming the youth counselor supervisor at Southern Oaks Girls School for another 13 years, from where she retired in 2009. She was passionate about helping the youth in our community.

On January 11, 1986 in the comfort of her parent’s home, Patricia was united in marriage with the love of her life, Curtis Martin Jr. Patricia was a member of Macedonia Church of God in Christ where she served on the building fund committee and as President of the Deacons’ Wives Circle. Among her interests, Patricia enjoyed a great day of shopping, travelling, meaningful phone conversations, surrounding herself with good people, and spending every available moment with her entire family.

Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Curtis; their daughter, Paige Martin (Edward Gamble); step-children, Billy, Jeff, Carolyn, Napoleon, Virginia Ann, Richard, Keith (April Martin), Michael, Jessie Ray and Eric Martin (Missy); numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, James (Elores) Chones of Cleveland, OH; God-daughter, Eboni Chones; sister, Sylvia Hargrove of Little Rock, AR; brother-in-law, Hubert (Niecy) Martin; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Chones, Frances Ramsey, Ossie Hilliard and Lelar Carothers; and a host of nieces and nephews.  Patricia is also survived by special cousins: Amia (Carol) Chones, Vernita Abbott, Berline Green and Debra Malone; and special friend, Jeanette Joeblakely; and a host of relatives and friends, too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin “Boo” Chones; and sisters, Jacqueline (Albert) Woods and Sherry Marie Chones.

Testimonials

November 13, 2019

I just can’t get over how beautiful everything was for my mom’s funeral. She had a rough last four weeks but your amazing team totally did her justice! I was pretty confused during that hard time, but Brian, you made sure that all the “I”s were dotted and all the “T”s crossed. For that, I thank you. I also would like to thank the amazing team of makeup artists. My mom looked beautiful.
