Mount Pleasant – Alvin Robert Madisen, age 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home early Friday, October 29, 2021.

Alvin was born in Racine, WI on September 11, 1933 to the late George and Marion (nee: DeWolf) Madisen. Following graduation from Washington Park High School, Alvin faithfully served our country with the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1955-1957. On April 30, 1966 he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Jenese Arlene (nee: Whartman). Sadly, Janese passed away in 1991.

Alvin began his working career with Paris Royal Cleaners before becoming a successful salesman with Badger Uniform, from where he retired. He was quite the accomplished bowler, having won a whole $300 on the television show “Bowling for Dollars” years ago. He was an all-around professional & college sports fan – especially of the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed working outside in his yard. Above all, Alvin loved spending time with his entire family.

Surviving are his son, Timothy (Elizabeth “Liz”) Burris; daughter, Judith Smart; grandchildren, Carl (Julia) Burris, Joshua (Melissa) Burris, Tracy Bogie, Carol Bogie, Lisa (Brandon) Schroeder, Jennifer Bogie, Nicole Smart and Ian Smart; great-grandchildren, Fiona, Addison, Delaney, Leon, Seth, Emma, Kathryn, Teagan, Kerthan, Dylan, Jael, Scarlett, Caden & Tabitha; sister, Geraldine Dundon; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Madisen; devoted nephew & nieces, Rusty (Charlotte) Buck, Marianne (William) Eyman and Ginger Siever; other nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

In addition to his parents & wife, Alvin was preceded in death by his sisters, Alice (Donald) Miller and Gloria (Nick) Motto; and brother, Clayton Madisen and daughter, Patricia “Patsy” Bogie.

Due to this time of continued struggle with COVID-19, private family services will take place on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Interment, with military honors, will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In memory of Alvin, memorials to VFW Post 1391 have been suggested.

To Tim, I am sorry for the loss of you’re Father. I knew Al from Bowling In the West Racine Bowling Association League many years ago at Big Lief’s. I was the league Secretary, and remember Al well, although I didn’t know he was on Bowling for Dollars.? Anyhow I remember you from either Jr. High at Mitchell, or High School at Park (1968) I of course never knew Al was your father. Nice guy, Good bowler, we had lots of fun In that league. It’s a small World. Again, i’m sorry for you’re loss.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Bill’s service was beautiful, beyond belief. Leslie was priceless in all she did. Gary, knowing Bill for many years, said a few words at the service. The special touched I didn’t expect warmed my heart. Two very, very special people helped make a sad day into something very special.

Thank you to all those that helped behind the scene, setting up, opening doors. My heart is full.

Bless you.

Helene Hellesen
