Betty Jean Berryhill, lovingly known to all as “Aunt Betty,” was called Home by her loving Savior on Thursday, July 17, 2025, just ten days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born on July 27, 1932, in Warren, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Forrice and Roxie (née Price) Finley.

Aunt Betty’s life was one of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others. She dedicated over 31 years of service as a caregiver at Ridgewood Care Center before retiring from Racine County. Her heart for caregiving extended beyond her profession—she held a foster care license with the State of Wisconsin and selflessly cared for five children, later adopting two of her great-nieces at the remarkable age of 68.

Her deep and abiding faith guided every step of her journey. A faithful member of Israel of God W.H.A. Church, Betty served diligently as Treasurer of the Local Educational Workshop and the head cook of the Culinary staff with grace and generosity. Her love for her church family mirrored the same spirit she poured into her own.

To her family, Aunt Betty was the glue that held everyone together. She showed up without question, without hesitation whenever she was needed. Whether with her time, her love, or her resources, she gave freely and never asked for anything in return. Her life was a testament to her belief in family, faith, and service.

Outside of work and church, Betty found joy in sewing, cooking, and traveling. Remarkably independent, at the age of 92 she continued to drive herself to church and around town and chauffeuring others. She enjoyed shopping and collecting many treasures, and could always be found in her favorite recliner, happily watching her beloved western shows.

Aunt Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her daughters: Kathryn Love, Mary Ann Beechem, and Kayla Berryhill, all of Racine; and Chantell Berryhill of Savannah, GA. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Gerald (Darcy) Love, Lisa Cooper, Anthony Love, Allison Love, Percy (Judith) Beechem, Felicia (Vondell) Beechem, ZeMier Edwards, ZCylah Berryhill, Zerenity Berryhill, Azariah Moore, JaKobi Cobb, and Kaylani Cobb; 12 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings: Mother Alice Riley, Raleigh “Jim” Finley, Mother Henrietta (Rev. George) Hamilton, Jarvis (Marilyn) Finley, and Ricky Finley; her sister-in-law, Mother Thelma Finley; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and dear friends who will carry her memory forward. She was preceded in death by her Parents, beloved son, Chester Beechem; siblings Rev. Lee Edward Finley, Nathaniel “Nick” Finley, and Juanita (Ellis) Person; brother-in-law, Rev. Willie Riley; and sister-in-law, Bernice Finley.

Betty Jean Berryhill’s legacy is one of faith, love, kindness, and a steadfast devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

    😞💔🕊️🙏🏾🥺
    Rest well, Aunt Betty.
I will miss you dearly—our time cooking together in the church kitchen, sharing laughs and stories, and you lovingly teasing me about how often I change my hairstyles. I’ll never forget making smoked turkey necks just the way you liked or dropping off dinner to you when I could. Your laugh lit up every room, and your voice during the Christmas Program will echo in my heart forever. Thank you for your love, your presence, and your legacy.
    Love you always. 💙

Aunt Betty, I truly thought time was on my side.. that I’d get to share more of those wholesome moments with you again. Moments like you teaching me how to cook, or patiently helping me thread a needle. I remember how you used to take me with you to the office building to help clean, and how proud I felt earning a few dollars. You were a virtuous woman-stern, yet so full of love. One thing you never failed to do was make sure our bellies were full. You cooked the most southern, soulful meals, and with every bite, we could taste the love you poured into it. I’m definitely going to miss you, Aunt Betty. You’ve left a lasting mark on my heart. Well done!

Aunt Betty this is hard we shared some good times from High Ridge, to overnight stays watching karate movies, snacking, laughing, talking about so many things. I am going to really miss that, rest now because like you told me “how you loved life” and it showed.
