STURTEVANT – Donald L Bostick (AKA Clyde or Donnie Bostick), age 85, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.

Donald was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on April 17, 1935, the son of the late Leonard Bostick and Julia (Evans) Bostick. His family moved to Racine, and Donald graduated from Washington Park High School in 1950. Donald proudly served his nation in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.

On February 10,1955, he married the love of his life, Helen M WcWhorter .

Donald retired from the City of Racine Park and Recreation Department in 1996 after 30 years of service.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, loving and lifting others up with his wise and humorous sayings. His passion was to help and lift others with his words and actions of kindness towards others. He loved volunteering to coach young men in the sport of basketball; he also coached the Racine Small Fry team the only year they won the International Small Fry Tournament. You could find him giving advice to those in need or joking about current events.

He was friendly, kind-hearted, compassionate, a great listener, an advisor, full of wisdom, strength, and a witty sense of humor at all times. To his family, he was everything. He was loved dearly and will be deeply missed. Donald did not have any problems meeting people wherever he went. A simple ‘’ Hey Clyde” could turn into an hour conversation. He was a good friend to countless people and was always helping anyone who needed help. He was friendly and kindhearted and always had a smile on his face. Many described him as a “Southside Legend”. He touched the lives of everyone that crossed his path.

Surviving are his children, Monica Bostick, Dale Bostick, Malitha Bostick, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, too numerous to mention all by name. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, and three sons.

A special thank you to Dr. Pothen and the staff at the Aurora Health Clinic for their dedicated care. To all of the close friends who loved and supported him throughout the years, thank you for your love and support.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, April 5, 2021 for a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  Due to Covid19, a private service will take place.

The Bosticks lived across the street from my family on Howe Street. I use to babysit for their children and I always remember the time and patience he took to share advice and teach you life lessons. He was one of the first men who talked with me about the importance of being valued and appreciated as a female. One of the greatest memories I have of him is those great big hugs he would give with those long arms. Rest well Clyde.

Testimonials

May 22, 2019

We recently used Draeger-Langendorf’s services for my grandmothers funeral and we are so thankful for Mike and the rest of the staffs help. They made the whole process easy and never urged us to make a certain choice. They were very informative of how the service was going to go and always made sure we knew what was going on. To our surprise Mike Langendorf was there singing in the choir during the funeral and it really made us feel like he truly cared about us. Such a fantastic singing voice! Amazing people to have helping plan during a hard time, would highly recommend.
