Ellis M. Storey

Aug 9, 1942 – Mar 23, 2009

Racine – Ellis M. Storey, 66, passed away at Vitas Innovative Hospice in Wauwatosa on Tuesday, March 23, 2009. He was born in Ripley, Mississippi on August 9, 1942, son of the late Cleave and Jennie Mae (nee: Simelton) Story. He was a Racine resident for most of life. Ellis served in the US Army from 1968-70. Following, he began a longtime career with JI Case Co. After retiring from Case, Ellis worked for the City of Racine as a Crossing Guard at Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary, and Mitchell Middle School. He was a member of Holy Disciple Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his children, Denise Washington of Hinesville, GA, Ellis Storey, Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Eddie Miller of Anoka, MN, and Tawanna Storey of Racine; 5 grandchildren; 3 sisters and 3 brothers, Mary (Elder Walter) Hughlett of Milwaukee, Evone Story, Linda (Richard Wade) Story, Oliver (Orine) Story all of Racine, Lawyer (Mary) Story of Milwaukee, and Freddie Story of Columbus, MS; sister-in-law , Lorene Story of Racine; and a host of dear relatives and friends. He was also preceded by his sister, Joanne; and brothers, John, William, Troy, and Charles Story. Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2009 at New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Ave., with Pastor A.W. Scaife officiating. Burial will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park immediately following the service. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4-6 p.m., and in the church on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Our family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Innovative Hospice for their dedicated and compassionate care for Ellis, and kindness toward our family.
