Service Details

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, June 7, 2021 for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. 

A service celebrating her life and Homegoing will follow at 12:00 p.m.

Racine – Gloria Lovette McCray, 78, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Gloria Lovette was born to Etha and Sam Earl on July 11, 1942 in Enterprise, Mississippi.  She was the third of 9 brothers and sisters: Morris, Carolyn, Sam, Harold, Delores, Vertlie, Willie James and Kathy.

After graduating from Enterprise High school Gloria met and married Terry McCray.  Their union produced 2 daughters and 1 son, Carron, Lorraine and Mario (deceased) McCray. They remained married as friends for many years before separating.  Years later, Gloria met Wallace Kelly and their union produced a son, Wallace McCray (Chico).

Upon moving to Racine, Gloria attended New Omega Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death.  She also worked as a Home Care Attendant at Society Access for many years before retiring in early 2000.

Following her retirement, Gloria or Flo as she was affectionately known to those closest to her loved spending time with family, shopping, watching American Idol, and cooking. She took her first plane ride to Las Vegas a few years ago and was ready to go again.

Gloria was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.  Her children say she was a gentle soul who was always willing to help someone in need and treated everyone with kindness.

She is survived by her brothers Willie James and Harold Earl, children Carron, Lorraine and Wallace (Chico) McCray,  grandchildren Mario Johnson, Chaquasa, Parnell, D’Asia  Cierra McCray and Antonio Franklin as well as numerous great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him. Thank you also Mike for singing at her funeral, especially her favorite song, Amazing Grace. Thank you and all of your staff at Draeger-Langendorf.
