James D. Hay, 92, of Racine, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2024.

James was born in Racine on January 13,1932, and was the son of Harold R. and Luella (Krueger) Hay.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. On June 26,1954, James and Beverly Nickerson were wed.

James graduated in 1956 with a BBA Degree, Major in Accounting at the University of Wisconsin. He worked at Western Publishing for over 20 years before retiring in 1991. He also worked as a professional wedding photographer, and won numerous awards in Racine Camera Club, including winning a first-prize trip to Honolulu.

James loved and served the Lord in music, playing piano and organ as well as serving as elder and teacher in the Men’s Sunday School at Racine Bible Church.

James is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beverly Hay; three children, Cynthia Priest and her husband, Ronald, of Lincoln, Maine, Julie Gauthier and her husband, Gil, of Racine, and Kathryn Rieckhoff and her husband, George, of Wausau, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren and spouses, and nine great-grandchildren. James was predeceased by his brother, Harold A. Hay in 2017.

A memorial service at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery will be held by the family on a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations Gideons International would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank Moments Hospice for the love and care they provided for James for the past couple of years. They gave us and Dad/Grampa many wonderful experiences.

We are especially thankful for our family and family of friends, all of which could express fond memories of Jim throughout the years he’s been in our lives.

Testimonials

May 24, 2018

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.
