Jamie Dee Miller

Feb 21, 1962 – May 6, 2024

Service Details

A Memorial Service will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, May 25, 2024, with visitation from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and the service to begin at 1:00 PM. Upon completion of the service, a celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at The Lanes.

Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, it was Jamie’s wish that Memorial Remembrances be directed to the family.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jamie D. Miller, our loving and devoted wife, mother, granny, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her family, on May 6, 2024, in her 62nd year of her young life, following a 26-year on-and-off battle with breast and ovarian cancer.

Her battle was filled with many struggles and difficult times. For those who knew Jamie, she never once complained and always had a smile on her face. She was strong and determined to beat cancer, and she did numerous times.

Jamie and her husband, James (Chooch) Miller, weathered many stormy times as she battled cancer. Together, they also had numerous mountaintop moments and many lasting memories. They were always together, always hand-in-hand and always by each other’s side for over four decades of love in life’s journey. Their love for one another was truly undeniable. She was the love of his life and his Princess!

Jamie was always dressed to perfection and had a keen eye for fashion. She loved to play cribbage and just about any other card game. She also loved to cook, bowl, golf, take walks with her puppy Lexi, and watch the Cubs and Bears with Chooch. Then there were the Saturday night poker games and their travels with her five best friends: Bean, John, Lauri, Jeff, and Chooch. But above all, nothing made Jamie happier than spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and family. Whether it was playing cards and games, watching her grandchildren play sports and attending their school functions, meeting her daughter and son-in-law and the grandkids for lunches and dinners, as well as museum and zoo trips, or playing golf with her son, she cherished every moment. She also enjoyed her morning visits and conversations with her son’s girlfriend, Daja. But her most treasured times were just sitting around the table and sharing stories, memories, and laughter with her family. Jamie’s strength and resilience were evident throughout her life, especially during her numerous battles with illness. Despite facing adversity, she remained steadfast in her determination to always care for her family, and her presence brought warmth and joy to everyone. Jamie was truly an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

Jamie Dee Miller was born on February 21, 1962, in Racine, Wisconsin, to the late Alan and Margo (Petersen) Parenteau  and was united in marriage with James R. Miller on May 25, 1985. She attended William Horlick High School (Class of 1980).

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her husband, James (Chooch) Miller, and their children: daughter Maggie (Chris) King; son Mathew Miller; grandson Shane King; and granddaughter Kai King.

Jamie is further survived by her brother Jesse (Karen) Parenteau, sisters Jacque (Ronald) Jorgensen, Jeri Parenteau, Jeanne (John) Parker, and Joi Brill; sisters-in-law Debra (John) Lipari, Kathy (Skip) Rybarik, Wendy (Bob) Vallner; nephews Terry (Stephanie) Petersen, Jack (Emily) Jorgensen, Anthony (Jessica) Parenteau, Blake (Abbie) Parker, Taylor (Abigail) Brill, Christian Brill, Brandon Lipari, Robert Tcheordikian, Michael Tcheordikian, Ryan (Cassie) Woelfel, Tyler Vallner, Brennan Vallner; nieces Jennifer (Randy) Dropik, Amber (Russell) DeVries, Ashley (Caleb) Eeg, Regina (Lydon) Miniter, Rebecca (Ashley) Scott, Brittany (Bobbie) Lipari-Bremer, Tammy Rybarik and Megan Vallner. Great-nieces and nephews include Sierra, Kailey, Connor, Dakota, Dalton, Dru, Jace, Kieren, Aubry, Braylon, Carson, Cameron, Paxton, Bronsen, Riley, Kaelyn, Kian, Olivia, Savannah, Brayden, Skylar, Savana, Nevaeh, Gracelyn, Alora, Natalie, Kali, Talan, Jett, and Dash, as well as dozens of cousins, extended family, and friends too numerous to mention.

Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, Alan and Margo Parenteau; in-laws Richard and Beverly Miller; grandma and grandpa Parenteau, grandma and grandpa Petersen; nephew Shane Klema; and niece Jessica Parenteau.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Michael Mullane, Kelly Konesko, and the entire staff at Aurora Cancer Center, where sadly Jamie was a frequent visitor. A special thank you to our Home Hospice nurse, Jen. Jamie and her husband absolutely loved each and every one of them.

There won’t be a day that goes by that we don’t think of this amazing woman. Even on her worst days, you’d never know it. She didn’t have to be that way, but she wanted to be. We were so grateful to have known her. My dear friend, Jamie; I hope you’ve already met August up there and are telling him stories of us. Give him all of the love.
