Sturtevant – Janet Gail Gergen, age 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday evening, November 6, 2023.

Janet was born in Racine, Wisconsin on April 16, 1943, to the late Everett and Anna Ruth (nee: Pilat) Peterson. She was a 1961 graduate of Washington Park High School. Various places employed Jan throughout her career. Her favorite position was serving as a cashier for Pick-N-Save (Durand Ave. & Green Bay Rd.) where she enjoyed the many conversations and friendships established with shoppers for over 15 years.

Among many of her interests, Jan enjoyed root beer & hamburgers, playing board games with family, especially with the younger generation, watching TV game shows & nature programs, shooting pool, bowling, had a lead foot in her car and absolutely loved animals – especially her Cocker Spaniels & Boston Terriers over the years (currently her canine companion, “Abby”). Above all, Jan was happiest while being surrounded by her entire family.

Surviving is her son, Joe (Brenda) Thoennes; daughter, Kris Hach; daughter-in-law, Ashley Gustin; adored grandchildren, Jenna & Lindsey Thoennes; Jimmy (Chasity Lochowitz) Hach & RyLee Hach; Gage, Dane & Vada Gergen; great-grandchildren, Grayson & Kennedy Hach; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Gergen (passed away October 13, 1986); dear son, David Andrew Gergen (passed away May 25, 2021); and by her brother, Ronald Peterson.

Services celebrating Jan’s life will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at noon in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday, November 12th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Private interment, next to her beloved Chuck, will take place in Graceland Cemetery on Monday.

I was friends with Jan in the early 1980’s when we were on the same bowling team. I was sad to hear of her passing. May God bless her in heaven and bless her family she leaves behind.
    Sincere sympathy, Elaine Beck

Testimonials

Thankful

We recently used Draeger-Langendorf’s services for my grandmothers funeral and we are so thankful for Mike and the rest of the staffs help. They made the whole process easy and never urged us to make a certain choice. They were very informative of how the service was going to go and always made sure we knew what was going on. To our surprise Mike Langendorf was there singing in the choir during the funeral and it really made us feel like he truly cared about us. Such a fantastic singing voice! Amazing people to have helping plan during a hard time, would highly recommend.
