
Racine – Janice Elaine (nee: Jarvinen) Nelson, age 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014 at Hospice Alliance – Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie following a brief battle with cancer.
Janice was born in Sheboygan, WI on March 23, 1942 to the late Wayne and Julia (nee: Flygstad) Jarvinen. She relocated to Racine in1956 until moving to Kenosha in 1979, returning to Racine in 1997. Janice graduated from Washington Park High School in 1960. She retired from Jockey International as a pattern designer. Among her interests, she loved the arts, home decorating, traveling, sunrises at the lakefront, and cooking gourmet meals. Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family and extensive circle of friends.
Surviving are her children, Craig (Ann) DeCamp of Waterford and Carri (Stuart) Satter of Kenosha; cherished grandchildren, Max, Eric and Jake DeCamp; Scena, Katherine and Anneliese Satter; brothers, Bob and Jerry Jarvinen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Jarvinen; and sister-in-law, Sue Jarvinen.
The family will host a Service of Remembrance on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church (5601 Washington Road in Kenosha) with Rev. Stacy M. Seger officiating. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance, Inc. have been suggested.
