Jennie J. Harter

May 15, 1916 – Dec 9, 2005

RACINE – Mrs. Jennie J. Harter, 89, died with her family by her side on Friday, December 9, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Grant County, SD on May 15, 1916 to the late Fredrick J. and Folena H. (nee: Aden) Kauers. She moved to Racine in 1947. On July 8, 1950, she married the love of her life, Warren L. Harter in St. Edward Catholic Church. Mrs. Harter attended St. Lucy Catholic Church. She was an avid Cubs fan who enjoyed baking and sewing. Mrs. Harter was happiest when in the surroundings of her children and grandchildren. In addition to Warren, her loving husband of 55 years, her survivors include her children, Rodney (Chris) Harter of Racine, Gregory (Amy) Harter of Zion, IL, Renee (Rudy) Villalobos of Racine; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; daughter–in-law, Mary Harter of Decatur, IL; brothers, Donald (Dorothy) Kauers, Dahlton (Farol) Kauers both of South Dakota, Douglas (Shirley) Kauers of Racine; sisters, Eldora Schmidt of Kenosha; sister-n-law, Delores Kauers of Racine; special family friends, Richard and Cindy (their children, Natalee and Matthew) Brzack and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents, her son, Terrace “Terry” Harter, sisters, Alma Baxley, Leona Jahnsen and brother, Alvin Kauers also preceded her in death. Family and friends are invited to Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. for a service celebrating her life with Rev. Joseph Stobba officiating. There will be a visitation in funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 9-10 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. Mrs. Harter’s family has suggested memorials to Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Her family wishes to thank Covenant Hospice, Dr. Michael Mullane and staff and especially, Rudy Villalobos and Cindy Brzack for the loving and compassionate care she received during her illness.
