Mt. Pleasant – John Mitchell “Jack” Jacobs, 87, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. He was born in Highland Park, Illinois on March 9, 1929, son of the late Joseph and Elise (nee: Laurdeson) Jacobs. Jack was married in Kenosha to Lillian Heidersdorf on July 23, 1949. She preceded him in death on December 31, 1996.
Jack began working at Nash in 1953, and retired 33 years later from AMC/Chrysler in 1986. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was visiting his daughter in Arizona (and adventures to places they should not have been), or going up north with the family to fish, and sit around the campfire to chat.
Jack is survived by his children: John (Nancy Widmar) Jacobs of Kenosha, Clyde Jacobs, Connie (Peter) Jensen both of Mt. Pleasant, Kimberlee (Jim) Jacobs-Hopkins of Green Valley, Arizona, and Todd (Cindy) Jacobs of Racine. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Diane Marie Jacobs; and sister Jill (Derell) Smith.
Public visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 11am to 2pm immediately followed by the funeral services with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Final committal services will take place on Monday morning at 10am in the chapel at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. Many people have found comfort in the words of encouragement found in the bible at Acts24:15 and Isaiah 25:8. Jehovah God promises to swallow up death forever and to bring back all those already lost in death, Luke 7:11-17 offers proof of this promise
Kimberlee Jacobs-Hopkins says
I will miss Dad dearly. We went on countless adventures together in WI and AZ and he was always a willing (instigator) participant. We often went into places that were marked as “Keep Out” (closed mines) or “Dangerous” (logging road down the snow covered mountain). He was fearless. Dad & I created great memories together and I will cherish them forever. He is now resting in peace with my Mom who is greatly missed as well. Love you Dad & Mom

My sincere sympathies to all of my WI family. Uncle Jack was like a 2nd Dad to me. I loved listening to his stories. I have so many great memories of camping, coming to PA with a WI crew for our wedding and traveling with Mom, Dad and I to CA. He sure was a pro at changing RV tires, especially after that trip. Thank you for sharing Aunt Lil and Uncle Jack to influence my life; I will be forever greatful. I know they and my parents and some of the Camping Coyotes are having a blast in heaven.
God’s peace and comfort to all of you.
Much love,
Ron, Lori, Tyler Ritchey and Katelyn and Kevin Lyme.

My cousin Jack was such a wonderful laid-pack, fun guy. I remember my Rice Lake, MN fishing trip with Uncle Joe, Jack, Lillian and some of the Jacobs kids. Our cabin was filled with “squeaky boards”. Connie was the youngest at perhaps 3 and made us laugh because she fished so well. I wonder if she still thinks that all you have to do is put your line in the water and then a fish appears immediately — as on her first catch ever. It was always a riot when my family got together with the Jacobs family. Maybe some are of the age to remember watching John Glenn’s walk on the moon in Hoffman Estates with your Illinois cousins. I do wish there had been more time spent with all of you.
My sincerest sympathy to everyone. You will have a lifetime of remembering happy times with your dad and the best joke teller ever your mom. They’re probably having some good times right now, smiling and laughing. Sorry I won’t be able to make it due to this weird winter weather.
