Michael D. Mills

Jun 24, 1981 – Apr 25, 2025

Service Details

In accordance with his request, a private service took place.

Michael D. Mills, 43, of Thiensville, formerly of Mount Pleasant, passed away at his residence, on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was born in Lake Forest, IL on June 24, 1981, the son of Larry and Mary (nee: Vaughan) Mills.

After graduating from Gateway Technical College with a degree in Computer Science, he was employed by various IT companies across the United States and also worked as a contractor for the Army in the Middle East during the war.

Surviving are his parents, Larry and Mary Mills, of Mt. Pleasant, WI; sister, Kristen (Chris) Gontscharow, of Kenosha; nieces and nephew, Delilah, Phoebe and James; paternal grandmother, Bobbie Mills, of Zion, IL, and other relatives. Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, W.T. Mills, and maternal grandparents  Dorothy and Burton Vaughan.

Michael brought joy, laughter, and love to those who knew him.  He was an avid reader and passionate Lego builder, he found joy in simple pleasures—whether it was piecing together a new Lego set, diving into a good book, or spending time laughing with his family. He also enjoyed running and hiking which helped provide peace of mind and personal fulfillment. Pasta was his favorite meal, a comfort food he never turned down. His enthusiasm and ability to storytell for Dungeons & Dragons games with his friends will be talked about and remembered for years to come.

Michael will be deeply missed, forever remembered for his creativity, his warmth, and the quiet grace with which he lived.

We worked with Michael at his recent job. He was alway’s friendly and talkative. I gave him Tom Hardy movie suggestions. He was very excited about this. We are sorry to hear of his passing and our thoughts will be with all who will miss him. Rest in peace.

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
