God was walking in His Garden; one He made with His own hands.
The sun was shining upon each blossom, old and young, through the land.
In a circle, He walked still searching for a lovely full-grown flower, pausing;
He found one ready to be taken in that hour.
Queen Williams, age 80, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Queen was born April 16, 1945, in Oktibbeha County, MS to the late Joe Williams, Jr. and Gertrude (Hogan) Williams. She was the tenth of eleven children in a family rooted in faith and love. Queen was educated in the Oktibbeha Public School District. She graduated from Oktibbeha County Webster High School in 1964. Queen owned and operated Essence Beauty Salon for many years and retired from JCPenney in 2020. There was not a dull moment when Queen was around because of her infectious laugh and ever-present smile. Queen enjoyed watching movies, cooking soul food and baking a pound cake that began in a cold oven, spending time with family, attending picnics and barbecues. Queen accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and enjoyed attending worship services. A godly woman who believed that all things should be done decently and in order. She loved the Lord and throughout her life sought spiritual discernment by studying the Word of God and praying. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Queen was a dedicated and longtime member of Second Baptist Church where she proudly sang with the Voices of Second Baptist Church. She was also a loving and dedicated Pastorโs Ade Committee member, the Kitchen Committee and served as the President of the Voices of Second Baptist Church. Queen was also a member of the Marvelette Social Club when it was in existence. This club had many social engagements in various cities. Queen was also a member of the Bengay Club. This club looked out for each other in times of need or pain. Although they were named the Bengay Club they partied hard. Queen leaves a legacy of love, kindness and unwavering dedication to her family, friends and church. She cared for her friends and family so much that if you were ever given advice from her, you knew it came from a place of love without malice or harm. She stood on principle. Queen leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: her son Parrish (Tammy) Williams; a sister, Leatha G. Hughes of Jackson, MS; and her beloved special life partner Jerome Brewington, ย her dog Money; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and her Second Baptist Church family. Along with her parents, Queen was preceded in death by her six brothers:ย Willie, James, John, JC, Jozelle, Ray D. and three sisters: Nannie Mae, Emma Jean, Meneriva.
A life well-lived, full and complete in service to God and family, Queen Ann Williams completed this earthly journey and transitioned to eternity on June 18, 2025.

Sending Prayers and Condolences to the Family. My encounter with Queenie was of her styling my hair as a child for the first time. Very tender headed(if you know what that means),and boy did I cry!!!! But as an adult, whenever she would see me, we would laugh at that memory. She will be missed.
