Memorial Suggestions

In memory of Ralph, offer a kind deed to someone in need.

Racine – Ralph Edward Conley, age 83, passed away peacefully at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Thursday, June 17, 2021.

Ralph was born in Alamo, Tennessee on December 20, 1937, to the late Eli Conley, Sr. and Rebecca (nee: Cates) Conley-Green. Ralph attended Central High School in Alamo, Tennessee. He was very articulate in his speech. He was also known to be quite the comedian. Ralph went on to serve our country with the United States Army for a short period of time. Following, Ralph tirelessly picked cotton in the South before moving to Racine, Wisconsin. He was employed as a machinist for several local companies, including Snap-On Tools. Ralph also owned a meticulous hand-car-wash, located at State St. & Memorial Dr. for some years. He was proudly vocal regarding politics & could always back up his beliefs with accurate factual events. He loved to quote portions of Dr. Martin Lutheran King’s speeches that he memorized. Ralph was a proud fan of B.B. King and James Brown and could often be found relaxing, wherever he could, with music. Above all, Ralph loved gathering with his brothers to see which one had the greatest story to tell of early life. Ralph was often referred to as “Mr. E.F. Hutton” because, as everybody knows, “when E.F. Hutton spoke, people listened”. When conversing with Ralph, you didn’t really speak to Ralph, you listened to him!

Surviving are his children, Victor Ormond; Colvin (Dena) Conley of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Verenia Liggins, and Jamie Ford, Sr., both of Racine, Wisconsin; and Octavious “Tony” Conley of Illinois; grandchildren, Karisha McCaskill, Bryan Strong, Malia Conley, Amiah Conley, Aila V. Conley, Chelsea Conley, Jamie Ford Jr., Monica Driver, Dorothy Driver, Jordan Ford, Omari Driver and Salome Ford; brother, Robert A. (Lillie) Conley of Racine, Wisconsin; sisters, Min. Ora (Clarence) Conley-Bland of Racine, Wisconsin; Mammie Conley-Bell of Greenfield, Wisconsin; and Patsy (Willie J) Conley-Stewart of Cordova, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Eli Conley, Sr. and Rebecca Conley-Green; son, Ralph Edward Conley, Jr.; brothers, Eli Conley, Jr., Willie A. Conley, Rev. Edward B. Conley and James E. Conley; and sisters, Flora L. Conley-Robertson, Cordia R. Conley-Taylor and Monette Conley.

Homegoing Services celebrating Ralph’s life will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Viewing from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Funeral to follow immediately after at 2 pm. In memory of Ralph, offer a kind deed to someone in need.

Ralph, was a very good friend of mine for many years. He washed many of our cars at the law office where I worked. He was very outspoken about politics and if he said something, you knew it to be true. Ralph and I used to banter back-and-forth regarding politics. Even after I moved to Arizona, we could talk on the phone and when I came back to visit in Racine, we would meet at Hardee’s for coffee and breakfast. Rest in peace, Ralph.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful attention to every detail you provided our family for my dad’s service. We were touched by the jazz music playing softly in the background. It was a fitting service for my dear Dad.
