Robert "Bob" P. Wiersum

Jul 2, 1956 – May 21, 2009

Robert Wiersum, 52, died at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Thursday, May 21, 2009 after battling multiple health issues over the years. A lifetime resident of Racine, he was born on July 2, 1956 to Myron and Carol (nee: Haumersen) Wiersum. He graduated from Washington Park High School. Bob grew up attending Racine Bible Church. However he was most recently a member of Family Fellowship Church which developed under the Friends of the Family Home Ministries in Racine. As a Christian man, Bob enjoyed doing God’s work. A longtime volunteer with Friends of the Family, Bob helped run the ministry’s food pantry where over ¾ of a ton of food was distributed daily to those in need. Bob also enjoyed his time woodworking, fishing, photography and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, his survivors include his sister, Jean (John) Friesema of Woodland Park, CO; sister-in-law, Marla Wiersum of Racine; nieces and nephews, Kari (Jason) Masilian of Racine, Jason (Tricia) Friesema, Josh (Anne-Marie) Friesema both of Woodland Park, CO, John (Annie) Friesema of Colorado Springs, CO; great nieces and nephews, Noah, Keziah, Ellie, Issac, Kenny, Ava, Jett and Cole; as well as other dear relatives and friends. Bob’s brother, Ted Wiersum, preceded him in death. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. for the celebration of Bob’s life with his minister and friend, Pastor Scott Miller officiating. There will be time to meet with his family from 4-6 p.m. Cremation will follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Fishing, Faith and Friends (1215 Douglas Ave. Racine, WI 53402).

    My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends Bob loved. I am so very grateful we became good friends again. I will truly miss Bob so much. I have many wonderful memories of Bob and his family.
