Mount Pleasant – Robert C. O’Connor, 79, known to all as “Red”, received the promise of eternal life on Monday, August 5, 2019.  He was born in Racine on September 18, 1939, son of the late Leonard and Emily (Née: Heinen) O’Connor.

Red was united in marriage to the love of his life, Evelyn Ann Schmidt, on June 12, 1971, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Red proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Army.  He was a shipping supervisor for Twin Disc until his retirement.  Red loved hunting and fishing up near his cabin in Little Suamico.

Red leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 48 years, Evelyn O’Connor; sons, Randy (Dawn) O’Connor, Chris (Jo) O’Connor, Pete (Dani) O’Connor; grandchildren, David, Mark, Shelby, Nicole, Emily, Owen, Marni; great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Bella; brothers, Ed O’Connor, Sam O’Connor, Dave O’Connor; other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by his son, Robert S. O’Connor; and granddaughter, Emily O’Connor.

A celebration of Red’s life will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019, 10:00am, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3350 Lathrop Avenue, with Rev. Jesse Gullion officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will take place on Friday, August 9, 2019, 12:00pm, at Grosse Cemetery, Allen Road, in Little Suamico. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Racine Lutheran High School.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him. Thank you also Mike for singing at her funeral, especially her favorite song, Amazing Grace. Thank you and all of your staff at Draeger-Langendorf.
