
RACINE – Bob Smitendorf, 93, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Thursday, June 5, 2014.
He was born in Racine on August 8, 1920, the son of the late John and Freida (nee: Lange) Smitendorf. Bob graduated from Washington Park High School in 1939. On June 22, 1946, he married the former Jacqueline Bryde Robin. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2008.
Bob retired from the Racine Police Department in 1975 after 28 years of service on the force. He remained a longtime member of the Racine Police Association. He enjoyed being outside, working in his yard and playing golf.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Mainland and his grandson, Michael Sell both of Racine. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
A private service was held in the Mound Cemetery Chapel.
Bob’s family sincerely thanks Harmony Commons, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice and the 3 Med unit at WFH- All Saints for the wonderful attention and service he received while under their care.
