Racine– Gregory Roland Stray, 58, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack, while traveling through Kentucky on vacation, on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Greg was born in Racine on October 8, 1953 to Grover and Helen (nee: Gill) Stray. He graduated from Cudahy High School in 1972. On June 24, 2000 in St. Veronica Catholic Church in Milwaukee, he was united in marriage with Tammey Ann (nee: Lussier).
With an incredible work ethic, Greg has been employed by Yamaha Motors Corp. for the past 40 years, currently as the warehouse manager. Catholic by faith, he was a member of St. Lucy Parish. Among his interests, Greg was an auto racing fanatic. Everything he did and wore had to do with NASCAR. He loved being at home with his family, taking walks in Sanders Park, and watching / attending as many races as possible. He also was also crazy about his feline friends.
Surviving are his loving wife, Tammey; children, Jennifer Stray and Joseph (Kelly) Stray; adored granddaughter, Lissa Marie Stray; mother, Helen Stray; sisters, Mary Lynn Stray and Debbie Stray; brothers, Jeff (Donna), Steven, Matthew and Christopher Stray; Tammey’s parents, LaVern “Jim” and Joyce Lussier; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Cyndi), Todd (Patty), and Dean (Missy) Lussier; sister-in-law, Jodi (Ed) Sullivan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Grover Stray.
Funeral services celebrating Greg’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 7:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. In memory of Greg, all are encouraged to wear your favorite NASCAR clothing (including hats) and/or a flannel shirt to the service. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested.
A special thanks to Wheaton Franciscan – Cardiovascular Institute for the wonderful care and support given to Greg after he suffered a heart attack this past February. May God bless all of you!
