Bailey Leander James McCollum, age 5, unexpectedly went to heaven on Tuesday, October 8th after having a great day at school and playing at Petrifying Springs Park. Bailey loved life with a passion and his smile lit up a room. Bailey went to Christian Life Daycare and Preschool from the time he was 9 months old until last June. He was Kindergartner at Somers Elementary School. Bailey enjoyed playing T-ball at Somers for the past 3 summers. He bike raced a bit at the velodrome a year ago. He enjoyed basketball and soccer camp at Christian Life this past year. Bailey enjoyed singing and dancing and loved going to watch his sisters in Plays. He loved watching SpongeBob, Jake, Rugrats, Fanboy & Chum Chum and Survivor. He liked to figure things out and enjoyed making experiments, digging in the dirt for worms and building things, and just being outside with nature.
He will be greatly missed by his parents Larry and Kirsten (Nee: Mikutis) McCollum, his loving sisters, Madison and Waverly McCollum; His grandparents, Ann Mikutis-Niesen, Tom Niesen, Kay and John Flynn; His Aunts and Uncles, Kurt and Jennifer Mikutis, Kerrie and Brett Pasternak, Tammy and Marc Shannon, Tommy, Jason and David Niesen, His cousins: Cameron Mikutis, Kelsey Winiarski, Jasper, Tillie, and Kaylie Pasternak, and Molly Shannon. Bailey is in heaven with his grandpas, James Mikutis and Larry McCollum Sr.
You may say goodbye to Bailey and visit with his family on Saturday, from 4–7pm at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine, 322 Ohio Street, and Journey Church in Kenosha at 10700 75th Street on Sunday from 2-5pm, with a 5:00pm service to CELEBRATE his wonderful life! In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being created in Bailey’s honor.

There is no right word to say in this time of heart ache and pain that your family is going through, but with prayer and God you will find new strength that you never thought you had. I don’t know your family, but being a mother and a sister of Christ I can’t imagine how you feel. Your baby boy is now in the highest and that۪s a gift of a life time that no one can replace. You have many that are praying for your family, and may this bring you peace and strength. God is with you even when everything seems silent. May time bring fast healing and help your family build a treasure of happy memories of Bailey.
Lord hear our prayers

I am thankful I had the pleasure of meeting and playing with Bailey at Bullens rummage sale last year when I volunteered with my daughter. What a character he was. He was so funny and cute running around. He was such a good helper that day. Words cannot express what your family is going through. My prayers are with your family. I too have experienced a horrible tragedy in my life and the healing process is very hard but it is one day at a time. Be sure to know that Baileys wings will always be wrapped around you no matter how hard the day seems.
